Small-Pack Dog Hikes in Oakland

Redwoods & Waves takes East Bay dogs out of the city and into the Oakland redwoods with small groups for quiet trails and refreshing forest time.

I hike three dogs per group, so each dog gets individualized attention and calm socialization.

I take them Tuesday through Friday, for an hour of hiking, with door-to-door pickup. I use positive reinforcement, treats, and I give dogs a healthy snack break, so your pup comes home calm, socialized, and happily tired.

How it works:

Most hikes are in two different spots in the redwoods. Once in a while, I take pups to the bayfront for the ocean breeze and views. The total adventure window is about 1.5–3 hours, including travel.

Why the redwoods?

Sniffing through a forest is genuinely calming for dogs. Being away from sirens and distractions also leaves them less stressed when exploring. The soft ground is easier on their paws and joints too.

A few things I take seriously:

-Three dogs only pack for individual attention and car/pack safety

-Dogs ride secured in the Sleepypod Clickit Sport, the only dog harness that's been independently crash-tested and passed. If your pup doesn't have one, I'll send you the link when you sign up.

-I'm East Bay Regional Parks-permitted, Pet CPR & First Aid-certified, and fully insured.

Hikes are on-leash, with off-leash time for dogs with positive play manners and recall. I practice recall one at a time on a 15-ft line so dogs can explore while staying safe.
